Malta Islands in History

Malta Islands in History is my visual interpretation of the movement of time and the evolution of architecture and motifs on Malta and Gozo. The influence of people thought out history that have made there mark from the Hospitaller Knights of Malta (SMOM) and Maltese Nobility to the people that make society and every day life continually move forward.

Malta is a small but a very shinny jewel in the Mediterranean. Its history show’s temples for about 5000BC, Roman ruins to the fortifications of differing ages throughout the Maltese Islands. From the charming Baroque buildings and thriving fertile arts community Malta is culturally ever moving forward. Although Malta has a strong History for me every step was a new site to behold, it also has a strong vibrant future this is evident as one moves around this country. The size of the Maltese Islands makes it easily accessible for all tourists

For the images in this exhibition I owe a special thanks to the Consulate General for Malta in Victoria, Malta Tourism Authority (MTA) Heritage Malta for granting me the permits to shoot in these amazing locations.

This exhibition was held at Essoign in 205 William St Melbourne.

The three peaks challenge

Good friend Glenn Manton had asked me if I would be interested in doing the photography for an event he was involved in, “The Three Peaks Challenge”. We climbed three peaks one in Victoria, one in the ACT and the other in NSW, in under 36 hours including transit time. It was a challenge in every sense of the word that culminated in an exhibition in the City of Melbourne of a selection of my work.

Planet Earth Planet Art

Planet Earth Planet Art is a collaboration project between London based Spanish artist Bruce Rimell and the Mirca art group.

This book project will donate profits to Green Peace. The aim of this book is to show a correlation between the arts and the earth we all share. We only have one planet as large as it is the globe is in direr need of our attention. This book will highlight the earth through the eyes of artists with the visions and thoughts from around the world.

Special thanks to Bruce as he was very gracious to allow another Mica project that I am working on to take part and have some pages of this book. The project is “Different Landscape Same People” it is an international arts project for schools. This project gives creative voice to our youth and teaches not only expression through the arts but also mutual respect. This project encourages and fosters education through the cultural language of the arts.

The Colour of Thought

The Colour of Thought was an interesting experimental collaborative concept. It was mixing the visual mediums of calligraphy and photography to create one piece of art out of two visual disciplines. To make this concept possible first I had to open my images to Nicole Heaslip Calligrapher and lettering artist to choose the images she felt affected her creatively. The images chosen are some of my signature pieces and are not usually available for publication or any type of editing or modification unless for exhibition or privet clients. Nicole chose what she thought appropriate to work with and produced some beautiful treatments of these photographic images.

Some of these pieces can be seen at the Katrina Manton Gallery at 325 Montague St Albert Park Melbourne or on line for purchase at Katrina Manton Gallery
